Raid the North returns to beautiful BC, and lands squarely in one of BC's best outdoor playgrounds. In the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is one of those magical places, with more variety than we can pack into a 36 hour race. From pristine lakes to mountain peaks, from lush orchards to desert terrain, the diversity will keep your team guessing what's next! Add in the temperate weather, abundant sunshine (only 6 hrs of darkness on race weekend), and the classic tunnels, trestles and trails of the KVR, it's perfect for adventure racing.
THE RACE: How did Raid the North become Canada's premier adventure race? By throwing it down: tough courses through real wilderness that test your teamwork while challenging you personally, physically, and mentally. The finish line is secondary in Raid the North; the true achievement is on the course, pushing past the limits you thought you had.
COURSE DESIGN: Mark McCann was the race director and course designer for Outlast AR in Ontario and Quebec, and now lives in Kelowna. Mark has designed a stellar course in classic RTN fashion: showcasing many of Kelowna's highlights, while allowing the wilderness to truly challenge you.
POST-RACE DINNER, AWARDS & PARTY: Following a social afternoon at the lakeside finish line on the beach at The Cove, racers, support crews, volunteers and race staff come together for a poolside awards dinner at 5 - featuring a complimentary TREE BEER for everyone! We'll have an awards ceremony to recognize the top teams, last teams, and funniest moments; we'll share race stories, recognize volunteers, and award more prizes for all sorts of crazy reasons.
We'll cap off the weekend with a licensed poolside post-race party - and we'll keep things interesting with comical race stories, cheesy games, and unique stunts worth cool prizes.
Raid the North offers the most points available in the Great Western Adventure Racing Series (GWARS). With free team entries to all the best races in the west in 2010 up for grabs, it's worth adding this event to your schedule!
