I Left my Heart in Jalcomulco

Meet alumni, see photos and video, and get a better sense of the experience!

Our classic Jalcomulco AR Training Week keeps getting better every year! For new or experienced competitors, we cover every skill and technique needed to compete in any style of race, at any level, then put it all into practice with an 8 hour race. On top of that, the cultural and social experiences will leave you wanting more. Our alumni have said...I Left My Heart in Jalcomulco. Find out why!

How do you say that?
Jalcomulco: Hal-cuh-mo-co. Rhymes with Cup o'Cocoa!

EXPERIENCED OR BRAND NEW ADVENTURE RACER? Our extensive adventure race training curriculum focuses on the skills and knowledge required to complete your first race and/or take you to the next level in competitiveness. This skills development and improvement week features workshops and certifications in navigation, ropes, first aid for Adventure Racing, flatwater and whitewater paddling techniques, swiftwater rescue, mountain biking and more! Taught by internationally renowned veterans of adventure racing, along with the paddling and ropes experts of Esprit, you will be exposed to the tips, tricks and lessons learned from some of the biggest and most challenging events in the world.

New to AR? That's ok, this camp is designed for everyone, from complete newcomer to competitive racers interested in taking their skills to the next level. Our flexible approach to instruction means you'll get exactly what you need in each skills component, while everyone learns the same tips and tricks specific to AR. You should have a decent cardio fitness base, if only for the race on Friday!

COMBINE TRAINING, ADVENTURE AND CULTURE. The idyllic mountain village of Jalcomulco is nestled in the Sierra Madre mountains, between Mexico City and the Gulf coast, on the banks of one of the best whitewater rivers in Mexico, surrounded by pure wilderness, thrilling mountain bike trails, and nail-biting cliffs and gorges!

You will stay in a sprawling hacienda hosted by the Rodriguez family, eating traditional Mexican food and practicing your Spanish. The hacienda is very comfortable and clean, featuring an inner tropical courtyard, pool, hot showers and hammock bar. Depending on local schedules, we might find ourselves at a big top circus, learning to make tortillas, or enjoying an outdoor disco.
